A happy opportunity for Mmande and his brothers
Mmande and his brothers have shown a tremendous change in confidence and learning since gaining sponsorship through EVC Uganda.
Mmande is the youngest of four children from a second marriage. He comes from a poor family who recently became homeless because their house fell down in a rain storm.
Fortunately, Mmande and two of his brothers, Kakooza and Moses, have sponsors from England, so were residing in the school dormitories. The fourth brother, Ssande, has more recently found a sponsor too, so was gladly able to join his brothers in school.
Despite his young age, Mmande is fiercely independent and is already well versed in the school routines. When he joined the school early in 2014 he could not speak. Now he speaks in full sentences in Lugandan and already knows some English.
The young brothers were not able to return home in the holidays as their parents lacked the money to collect them. When Ted and Judi visited last September, they were able to surprise the parents and take the boys to see them. They were amazed to see the tremendous difference in their sons after such a short time in education. Their father is so proud of them, recognising that they’re so bright, eager to learn and soaking up all they’re experiencing.
On the day they visited, the boys were able to see how their parents are being helped by their uncle to rebuild their house. It was a day of excitement for the boys and joy all round - particularly as there was fish for supper!

Why not consider child sponsorship. This provides a child with an education, accommodation, clothing and food and pays teaching and non teaching staff.
