Our Chairman's update on Covid-19

October 2020

Ted Fawcett, EVC Uganda's Chairman provides an update on how our schools and volunteers have been impacted and adapting to the covid-19 restrictions.

From 18 March, due to the virus, all schools in Uganda have been closed and our people have worked tirelessly to take

school learning materials / aids to learning to individual

children at home so they have work to do and collect and

mark this. Our outreach education programme has been very active during this period. The usual childrens` letters and school reports to child sponsors have not been sent due to these exceptional circumstances. These very important

items will be sent again to child sponsors as soon as possible.

Candidate classes for those children due to sit Primary

Leaving Examinations ( PLE ) will return to school on

15 October and the latest news we have is that the rest of

the children will be returning to school in the new year.

In order to re open the schools the Ugandan Government has set Standard Operating Procedures which must be

followed and EVC will assist where possible with the

implementation. Facilities being provided include a totally

enclosed site, temperature guns, masks, disposable gloves,

handwashing stations, disinfectant and an isolation area with beds and desks.

We will continue to update you on developments as they

unfold on the EVC website
