Returning to School
April 2021
"I feel happy to be back at school, as we spend more time studying than at home where I dig, fetch water and collect firewood. In school we eat food on time and sleep better than at home".
"We fetch water at the school bore hole and it’s less time than at home where we get it from far away places".
"I have met all my friends I was missing and I have time to revise my books and to concentrate on my studies".
So wrote three of our Primary 4 students as they shared their thoughts and feelings about their return to school on 6th April.
At present schools are still having to operate a staggered return of year groups and, until 9th August, when the new autumn term is scheduled to begin, not all children will be in school at the same time.
The table shows the proposed dates of return during the current term.

Primary 7, Senior 4 and Senior 6 returned to school on 15th October last year, in order to prepare for end of primary exams, GCSE and A level, which took place at the end of March this year. They are now at home and, provided all goes to plan, will return to school in August, for what will be the beginning of the new school year. There will be no end of year exams during the current term for other children and all children will automatically move up a year group in August. Term dates during 2022 and 2023 will not be as normal - it will take until the beginning of 2024 for normal term dates to be in place.
During the time children are not in school, outreach education will continue. We are very grateful to the teachers who have been involved with this and to our administrators, Gonzaga and Margaret, for all their work in maintaining education for the children.
