Blog Series Part 7: Uganda Visit 2022 (8th July)

July 2022

A Primary 7 Maths class and a Primary 1 Reading lesson awaited Neil as he went to observe lessons at St Matia Mulumba this morning. Meanwhile, Ted and Judi met with Gonzaga, to begin a series of meetings covering management training , individual appraisals and evaluating the workload.

After lunch, Neil travelled with Father Boniface to visit the headteacher at St Joseph’s Secondary School in Butenga, to explore whether the school would like to develop a partnership with a secondary school in the UK. There was a very positive response, as there has been each time this question has been asked and, the plan is that these partnerships will begin with three secondary schools, one primary and one nursery school.

Following this, everyone went to St Theresa Secondary School and St Aloysius Secondary School in Bwanda, to see some of our sponsored children. It was good to see their confidence grow during the conversations and to know that all eight of them are enjoying their time in these schools. The final stop was at the technical institute in Bwanda, where the Sisters showed hospitality with tea and home made banana chips. Hospitality is traditional here and, a Ugandan saying is apparently, ‘He who goes without eating, never returns.’

How can you help?

It costs £300 to sponsor a child ( £25 monthly standing order ) This provides a child with an education, accommodation, clothing and food and pays teaching and non teaching staff. You can also donate securely through KindLink.
