September 2023

Friday 1st

Give thanks for God’s goodness in providing the finances needed to build the new nursery department at St Matia Mulumba.

Saturday 2nd

Today Phil and Gordon are travelling to West Croydon to speak in a church where there are seven Masses over the weekend. Pray for stamina for Phil and for good conversations with parishioners.

Sunday 3rd

Pray that people will give generously and that there will be members of the congregations who will be willing to sponsor children in education.

Monday 4th

Pray for all the preparations for the EVC Concert taking place later this month in Bedford and for Ramon as he oversees all the details involved in it.

Tuesday 5th

Give thanks for our sponsors and donors, particularly for their faithfulness in supporting our children and our work.

Wednesday 6th

At present it is school holiday time in Uganda. Pray for all our children, that they will be protected whilst at home and, that they will be a support and help to their parents and guardians.

Thursday 7th

During this holiday the teaching staff in the schools are working on upgrading their qualifications. Pray that they will learn well and gain new ideas which will help them improve their teaching methods.

Friday 8th

Tomorrow is the EVC Board Meeting. Pray for good discussions and, that any decisions made, will be in line with God’s will.

Saturday 9th

Give thanks for our Board of Trustees who volunteer their time in order to see the work of EVC Uganda progress.

Sunday 10th

As new building projects are on the horizon, pray that good contractors will be found who will be dependable and build well.

Monday 11th

Pray for Prossy as she oversees the building work in Uganda and for the Diocesan Building Inspector, checking the different stages of the work.

Tuesday 12th

Pray for Josephine and Joseph, headteachers of the two primary schools, as they plan and prepare for the new term.

Wednesday 13th

Tomorrow there will be a meeting for all EVC Uganda parents and guardians. Pray that as many as possible will attend and that those who lead this time will be guided by God’s Holy Spirit.

Thursday 14th

Pray that the parents who come to the meeting today will understand what they hear - the need to support their children in school, to seek to save for their needs through the SACCO groups and to value the opportunity their children have for education.

Friday 15th

Tomorrow and Sunday, Judi and Ted are returning to the Church of the Most Holy Redeemer in Billericay. Pray for Judi as she speaks and, that God will touch the hearts of those in the congregations, to give generously.

Saturday 16th

The new school term begins on Monday. Pray that all children will report back to school on time and that parents will make sure that their children have the supplies and equipment they need for the new term.

Sunday 17th

Pray for Tom Ssuuna, Chairman of the School Committee at St Matia Mulumba, as he seeks to give direction to the school, alongside his many responsibilities as head of another school.

Monday 18th

Pray for Father Boniface and Father Michael, that they will know God’s guidance and direction in all they are involved in.

Tuesday 19th

Pray for Ted, delivering workshops over Zoom this month to the EVC staff, school headteachers, Ugandan Trustees and members of school committees. Pray these times will be really helpful and that they will bear fruit.

Wednesday 20th

Give thanks for our staff in Uganda, Gonzaga, Janet and Prossy, for their commitment to the work and their understanding of the situation in which they are working.

Thursday 21st

As staff at St Matia Mulumba think about how they can also begin to raise funds, pray that God will give them good ideas which are workable within their situation.

Friday 22nd

Today there is a concert for EVC at The Church of the Holy Child and St Joseph in Bedford. Pray for Ramon with the responsibility for organising the setting up for this and for all those helping and taking part.

Saturday 23rd

There is a church appeal at St Anthony of Padua in Radlett this weekend. Pray for Ted and Judi as they return to this church, that God will bless this time and bring ever more people to sponsor children.

Sunday 24th

Pray for all EVC children settling back into the new school term, that they will listen and learn well and make good progress this term.

Monday 25th

Particularly pray for those in Senior 7 who will sit the Primary Leaving Exam later this term.

Tuesday 26th

Tonight there is a Donor Care Evening in Beckenham. Pray for Andy as he leads this and, that those who come will have a much better understanding of our work.

Wednesday 27th

Praxeda, Henry and Roger are studying in university. Pray that they will enjoy their courses and that they will be well equipped for the working world when they complete their studies.

Thursday 28th

Pray for all our children in vocational institutes and those carrying out apprenticeships  in garages this year, that they will understand what they are being taught and be able to use the skills they learn in the work situation.

Friday 29th

Later this term some of our secondary age children will sit their GCSE exams. Pray for good success for them and a clear idea of what area of study they should pursue next year.

Saturday 30th

Judi and Ted are travelling to the Church of Mary Mother of God in Enfield this weekend, to speak about the work of EVC Uganda. Pray for stamina in what has been a very busy month and that those who attend church will give generously.
