October 2023 Prayer Requests

November 2023

‘Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always. Remember the wonders he has done.’ Psalm 105 : 4 -5a NIV

Sunday 1st

Pray that Jesus will continue to be the one to whom we look for guidance and that He will remain at the very centre of our work.

Monday 2nd

Primary Leaving Exams will take place during this month. Pray for all our students who are sitting these tests, that they will trust God for the ability to recall the things they have been taught.

Tuesday 3rd

Pray for the teaching staff in both primary schools, that they will feel settled in their jobs and be happy with their working conditions.

Wednesday 4th

Pray for EVC Trustees in the UK, some of whom carry a very heavy work load, that they will have good health and the stamina needed to carry out their tasks.

Thursday 5th

Pray for Gonzaga, Prossy and Janet, together with Father Boniface and Father Michael, that they will work well together to achieve the goals of the charity.

Friday 6th

Gordon and Phil are travelling to Wellingborough tomorrow for an EVC church appeal. Pray for Phil as she speaks and for those in the congregations to donate generously.

Saturday 7th

Primary Leaving Exams begin today. Pray for all our children sitting these tests, that God will take away any anxiety they have and that they will trust Him for the ability to recall what they have learnt.

Sunday 8th

Every new term, there are students who delay returning to school, mainly because parents do not see the importance of education. Pray that this attitude will begin to change and that there will be a much more positive view as to the value of education.

Monday 9th

Give thanks that more parents are joining the SACCO groups Janet has set up. Over time, pray that parents will see the value of saving for their children’s education.

Tuesday 10th

Headteachers Josephine and Joseph carry a big responsibility in the two primary schools they are responsible for. Pray for them to be wise in decision making and for an ability to know God’s leading in different situations which arise.

Wednesday 11th

Pray for the parents and guardians of our sponsored children that they will understand the part they need to play in providing all the necessary materials for their children, each term they are in school.

Thursday 12th

Many students in the two primary schools have parents who pay their school fees themselves. However, at times, they fail to pay on time and run up a debt. This makes it difficult for the school administrators to run the schools efficiently and well. Pray for the parents that they will be able to raise the money needed to clear these debts and, in future, pay on time.

Friday 13th

This weekend Judi and Ted are giving a church appeal in Southsea. Pray for safety as they travel and for new sponsors to be found.

Saturday 14th

Pray that those attending the Masses will respond positively and generously to the needs of the children.

Sunday 15th

Senior 4 students begin sitting the equivalent of GCSE exams tomorrow. Pray that the Holy Spirit will enable them to remember what they have studied and record their answers in a clear and accurate way.

Monday 16th

Give thanks for all the students and staff who joined Term 3 on time.

Tuesday 17th

Road accidents seem to be a common occurrence in Uganda. Recently a student at St Kizito and his mother, lost their lives in a car accident and another student at St Matia Mulumba was very seriously injured in a road accident. Pray for those still recovering in hospital and for those who died to rest in peace.

Sunday 22nd

The EVC staff and the EVC Committee are preparing for  Gordon and Phil’s governance visit to Uganda next month. Pray that all the details of this visit will be well planned and all the necessary meetings and activities will be fitted into the time available.

Wednesday 25th

As we have heard of a number of fatal accidents recently, pray for the EVC staff, the priests, school staff and parents to be kept safe when travelling.
