January 2024

Mon 1st |
Pray that this will be a year in which God’s hand of blessing continues to be seen on EVC Uganda. |
Tues 2nd |
Today Gordon, Ted and Judi are meeting to plan for the year ahead. Pray for God’s leading and for a spirit of unity as they discuss the way forward. |
Wed 3rd |
This month work will begin on the the building of the new Nursery at St Matia Mulumba. Pray that the work will proceed according to schedule. |
Thurs 4th |
Pray for Prossy and Gordon as they oversee this work. |
Fri 5th |
Give thanks for the 24 churches who have agreed to hold church appeals for us during 2024. Pray for Ted as he continues to approach churches for the last six needed. |
Sat 6th |
Judi is waiting for the Christmas letters to arrive from the children to their sponsors. Pray that they will come soon and that she will be able to deal with them quickly. |
Sun 7th |
Give thanks for Father Joseph, Father Boniface’s replacement in the parish in Kyansi particularly for all his support during Gordon’s recent governance visit. Pray for him in his duties within the parish. |
Mon 8th |
Our sponsored children are still at home for the long Christmas holiday. Pray that they will be kept safe and well during this time and they will be a help to their families. |
Tues 9th |
Give thanks for our sponsors and those donors who give to project work. |
Wed 10th |
Agnes is returning to study for a diploma in midwifery. Pray that she will settle well onto the course and easily learn the new things she is being taught. |
Thurs 11th |
Continue to pray for Prossy as she oversees the work on the new Nursery building, that as she sources materials, she will be able to buy at good, realistic prices. |
Fri 12th |
Ted and Judi are travelling to Hove tomorrow for a church appeal. Please pray for safety on the journey and for a good response from the congregations. |
Sat 13rh |
Pray that more sponsors will be found for those children who need help to go to school. |
Sun 14th |
We are extremely fortunate in the EVC staff we have in Uganda. Give thanks for them, Gonzaga, Prossy and Janet and pray for them in their work. |
Mon 15th |
Pray for the teaching staff from the schools, that during this Christmas holiday they will get rest and refreshment. |
Tues 16th |
Fortunate has completed her certificate in nursing. Pray that she will be able to find a job where she can practise her skills. |
Wed 17th |
Give thanks for David, raising funds through the Knights of St Columba, to provide new mosquito nets for both primary schools. |
Thurs 18th |
Pray that during this year, new streams of income will be found for EVC. |
Fri 19th |
Ted’s work load is large and he still needs to deliver workshops to the staff, headteachers and members of the school committees in Uganda. Pray that he will be able to complete the content of these and be able to arrange suitably timed Zoom meetings to present them. |
Sat 20th |
Remember Father Boniface and Father Michael and give thanks for all their support and input, particularly to the EVC staff. |
Sun 21st |
As there are many church appeals this year, pray that Ted, Judi, Gordon and Phil will be given the stamina and capacities necessary to cope with this busy schedule. |
Mon 22nd |
Today Ted has a meeting with Tom Ssuuna, Chairman of St Matia Mulumba School Committee and Joseph the headteacher, to discuss their 5 Year Business Plan for the school. Pray this would be a positive time and that right decisions will be made which will be realistic and which will benefit the school. |
Tues 23rd |
Continue to pray that the parents and guardians of our sponsored children will understand the benefit of education for their children and be supportive towards them. |
Wed 24th |
When results of Primary Leaving Examinations and Senior 4 exams are known, Gonzaga will have a very busy time placing the children in schools and vocational institutions which will meet their needs. Pray for God’s wisdom and ability as she carries out this task. |
Thurs 25th |
Pray for those in Uganda who are looking at setting up a Fundraising and Marketing Committee. Pray that this will come to fruition and that they will have good ideas of how to raise funds and market the primary schools. |
Fri 26th |
Pray that all teaching staff will return to school in the new term and that the headteachers will not be in the position of looking for new staff at short notice. |
Sat 27th |
Today and tomorrow Judi is speaking at a church appeal in Weston Favel, Northants. Pray that people will give generously and that more sponsors will be found for children who are not yet in school. |
Sun 28th |
Praxeda has now completed her teaching degree and will be job hunting. Pray that she will be successful and will be offered a place in a school in which she will be happy. |
Mon 29th |
Pray for the heads of the two primary schools, Josephine and Joseph, as they look ahead to the new school year, that God will enable them in their planning. |
Tues 30th |
Today the Business Plan Working Group in the UK is meeting. Pray for their discussions and for wise planning as they look ahead. |
Wed 31st |
In February schools will return. Pray that all our sponsored children will come back to school. |
