March 2024

Fri 1st

Give thanks for the very good results EVC children achieved in the Primary 7 leaving and Senior 4 exams - national exams in Uganda.

Sat 2nd

Today Gordon and Phil are making a return visit to St Michaels in Huntington. The church will be collecting for EVC during the Lent Season. Pray for Phil as she speaks and, that during Lent, parishioners will give generously to our work.

Sun 3rd

Janet and the teachers, will soon be working on gathering childrens letters together to send to sponsors for Easter. Pray that they will be able to get everything together and that a more efficient means of sending letters will be found.

Mon 4th

Give thanks that students, parents and guardians listened to the advice given about the choice of schools to move to after completing primary school.

Tues 5th

As the new academic year is underway, pray that all children will settle well into the new term and concentrate fully so that they perform to the best of their ability.

Wed 6th

Those children who completed Senior 4 last year are now at the point of choosing where they will study from now on. Pray for right decisions to be made and, that the students and parents, will listen and act on the advice given by EVC staff.

Thurs 7th

Give thanks for the many parents who try to provide school needs for their children. Pray that all parents and guardians will be committed to their childrens education and support them positively.

Fri 8th

Teachers have responsibility for many children. Pray that they will get to know the children in their classes well and, that they will prepare lessons with care and creativity.

Sat 9th

This weekend there are two church appeals. Phil is speaking in Bridgnorth, Shropshire and Judi in Leamington Spa. Pray that hearts will be touched and that people will give generously.

Sun 10th

As Gordon and Ted do much of the driving to church appeals, pray for safety on the roads and that, they will not be held up by heavy traffic.

Mon 11th

Work on the new Nursery department at St Matia Mulumba has begun and the ground has been levelled. Pray for Prossy and Gordon as they oversee this building work.

Tues 12th

Our staff in Uganda have a very busy schedule. Pray that they will use their time well and know Gods enabling, in the many tasks they have to carry out.

Wed 13th

Recently Father Boniface and Father Michael were ill with malaria. Pray that during the remainder of this year they will have good health and be able to fulfil all aspects of their jobs well.

Thurs 14th

Each term there may be one or two children who do not return to school. Pray for the staff in Uganda to continue to be able to explain the importance of education to parents, so that fewer children drop out of the education system.

Fri 15th

Here in the UK the workload for Trustees is growing. Pray that more volunteers can be found who are willing to give time to carrying out necessary tasks.

Sat 16th

Today Judi and Ted are travelling to High Wycombe for a return appeal. Pray for safety as they travel, for people to give generously and, that there will be parishioners who will be willing to sponsor a child.

Sun 17th

Continue to pray for Joseph and Josephine, headteachers at St Matia Mulumba and St Kizito, that God will lead and guide them in their decision making for their schools.

Mon 18th

Many of our children have joined new schools this term. Pray that they will settle well, make new friends and concentrate fully on what is being taught.

Tues 19th

Pray for the board of governors in both of our primary schools and for the EVC Committee in Uganda, that each group will have a clear understanding of their roles and give wise guidance where necessary.

Wed 20th

Pray that the building of the new Nursery will progress well and that bad weather will not interfere with the transport of materials and work on site.

Thurs 21st

The Trustees and Gonzaga are working on producing the next five year business plan for the charity. Pray that this will come together easily and well.

Fri 22nd

Ted still needs to finish putting together the workshops he wants to give to staff, headteachers and other interested parties in Uganda. Pray he will have the necessary time he needs to complete these.

Sat 23rd

Some students completed their courses at the end of last year and are job hunting. Pray they will find places of work where they can use the skills they have learned.

Sun 24th

Give thanks for our sponsors who give so faithfully to support their sponsored children.

Mon 25th

Pray for those students now studying for diplomas or university degrees, that they will understand and, be able to retain, the things they are being taught

Tues 26th

Travel on motorcycle taxis in Uganda can be dangerous, particularly if the weather is bad. Pray for safety for the EVC staff and children and for Gods protection.

Wed 27th

Pray that our sponsored children will develop thankful hearts for the schools in which they are able to study and for the opportunities they have to learn.

Thurs 28th

Pray for a happy and purposeful atmosphere in each of the schools in which the children are studying.

Fr 29th

Last year two or three of our students suffered ill health, which impacted on their ability to study. Pray that this year, God would give them good health so that their studies are not interrupted.

Sat 30th

Continue to pray for those saving in the SACCO groups and pray, they will make saving contributions for their childrens education, a priority.

Sun 31st

Continue to pray that more people will be willing to sponsor children in their education.
