100 Mile Walk

May 2024

Fundraising for a new kitchen

Fifteen children, aged from 9 to 15 years old, boys and girls, from St Matia Mulumba Primary School are planning to walk 100 miles from their school in the village of Kyankoole to the Ugandan Martyr’s Shrine in Kampala to raise money towards a desperately needed new kitchen and dining hall for their school.

The current kitchen, located under an outdoor awning, is extremely dangerous. The children have nowhere to eat except in the open or in their classrooms.

The children are currently seeking sponsorships and donations from their families and friends in Uganda.

Their walk will take place over 5 days from 28th May to 1st June. The children will be well supervised by 4 accompanying teachers. To avoid the heat, they will walk at night and stay in parish accommodation en route each day. The walking group is very excited and up for the challenge.

They will also be accompanied on their walk by pilgrims on the annual pilgrimage to the Ugandan Martyrs’ Shrine.

To boost the children’s fundraising efforts, could you also sponsor the children on their walk?

Please visit our website on www.evcuganda.org and donate online or send a donation to EVC Uganda, Chapel Corner, 1 Church Road Willington, MK44 3QD. Please mark your donations “100 mile walk”.

How can you help?

It costs £300 to sponsor a child ( £25 monthly standing order ) This provides a child with an education, accommodation, clothing and food and pays teaching and non teaching staff. You can also donate securely through KindLink.
