EVC Uganda Prayer Requests, June 2024

June 2024

Sat 1st

Father Boniface, plus staff and a group of children from St Matia Mulumba Primary School are at present, walking 100miles to Namugongo to join the celebrations for Uganda Martyrs’ Day on 3rd June and to raise funds for their school dining room and kitchen. Pray for safety on the way and for stamina for each one to complete this walk over five days.

Sun 2nd

Judi and Ted are speaking at a church appeal in Portslade, Sussex this weekend. Pray for safety on the roads and for a positive response from the congregations.

Mon 3rd

Today is Uganda Martyrs’ Day. Pray for our children joining the special Mass today and that many may support them financially as they trust God to provide funds towards their school dining room and kitchen.

Tues 4th

The new school term has begun this past week. Pray that all pupils will return to school and that they will have the necessary scholastic materials for this time.

Wed 5th

In Uganda, teachers are not contracted in the same way as in the UK. Pray that each member of staff will return this term and that headteachers will not have to look for any new staff at short notice.

Thurs 6th

Pray for the teaching staff to prepare lessons well and to find creative ways of presenting new material to the children.

Fri 7th

Building work on the new nursery department at St Matia Mulumba is continuing. Pray for good weather so that work is not hindered and for Prossy as she oversees this.

Sat 8th

This weekend Judi and Ted are speaking in Church Stratton in Shropshire. Pray for a positive response from parishioners and, that new sponsors will be found to support more children in education.

Sun 9th

Some of our children completed their studies at the end of 2023 and are now job hunting. Pray that God will provide the perfect place for them to begin their working lives.

Mon 10th

Pray also, that those who complete their studies will maintain contact with EVC and, particularly with Gonzaga, supporting her as she talks with children about the importance of making the most of the opportunity to study and, being an example to the younger students with regard to what they can achieve.

Tues 11th

Several children have gained places to study nursing this year. Pray that as fees for vocational studies have risen considerably since lockdown, that God will provide all they need financially in order to be able to take up these places.

Wed 12th

EVC in the UK has been given a new software system which will help shorten the time needed to complete some tasks. Pray that those who need to use it will quickly understand how it functions.

Thurs 13th

Education week will take place soon in the Masaka Diocese. Pray for our two primary schools as they prepare to take part in the music, dance, reading and essay competitions held during this time.

Fri 14th

Pray that good trainers will be found to help the children prepare for this time and that the schools will have the funds they need to facilitate taking part.

Sat 15th

Today Phil and Gordon are making a return visit to speak at St Mary and St Augustine in Stamford. Pray that parishioners will be motivated to support a child in education and that they will give generously in response to the appeal.

Sun 16th

Give thanks for the EVC staff in Uganda and pray for them in their work, that God will enable them in the tasks they need to carry out and that they will be kept safe when travelling.

Mon 17th

Continue to pray that parents and children will understand the value of education and that parents will be prepared to do their part in supporting their children in school.

Tues 18th

Pray that all our children will have an enthusiasm for learning and will concentrate well on their studies this term.

Wed 19th

At present, much of the income for costs other than child sponsorship, comes from church appeals. There is a need to diversify income streams. Pray for Gordon and Ted as they look at ways to do this.

Thurs 20th

Continue to pray for Josephine and Joseph, headteachers in our two primary schools, that they will be led by God when planning and will give good direction to their staff and pupils.

Fri 21st

Pray for all our students who are now studying in vocational school, that they will enjoy their courses and will quickly and easily understand and be able to implement what they are being taught.

Sat 22nd

This is a busy weekend as Phil and Gordon make a return visit to Weston Super Mare and Judi and Ted speak in Crayford. Pray for Phil and Judi, that their words will connect with the congregations and that people will give generously to the work of EVC.

Sun 23rd

Pray for more volunteers here in the UK;  ones who have the necessary skills to help further develop the work of EVC.

Mon 24th

Pray for Chris, our new Treasurer, as he oversees all the financial matters involved in the running of EVC.

Tues 25th

Continue to give thanks for the wise advice given by Father Boniface and Father Michael to our staff in Uganda.

Wed 26th

Give thanks for the large number of SACCO groups which Janet has been able to set up among the parents and pray, that each one participating, will save regularly for their children’s needs.

Thurs 27th

As the Nursery staff at S|t Matia Mulumba look forward to having a new building next year, pray that they will plan well for this,  particularly in terms of equipment needed for classrooms and outside areas.

Fri 28th

Pray that the teaching staff in the primary schools will work to raise the standards at which each child achieves and that a standard of excellence in all areas of school life will be worked for.

Sat 29th

Today, Judi and Ted are travelling to Wembley to speak at St George’s, Sudbury. Pray for this time and that we will continue to see new people being willing to sponsor children in school.

Sun 30th

Continue to pray for God’s guidance in decision making, for Trustees and EVC staff.
