EVC Variety Performance Raises The Roof Again
All who attended the show this year were entertained by a range of musical performances of different styles. It was also an informative evening about life in Uganda, illustrating the urgent need for funds. The event raised over £1,000 for our school dormitory building project.
We kicked off with a short video, highlighting the achievements of our charity this past year, and saw clips showing the gratitude of the children benefiting from all your help.
The show was compèred by Rebecca and Simona, who were wearing dresses personally made for them by the ladies out in the Uganda community.
This year's performers were Lucia Carrasco, Opoku & Aimee Opare from Christ the King Gospel Choir, AMDG from St Joseph's parish, Promethidion and the Armitage Family.
Between acts we had inspirational talks from Father Boniface, EVC's chairman Ted, Tatjana - a child sponsor, and Ramon and Mike who visited Uganda this year. We were also given a short lesson in Lugandan by Henry - very useful if anyone is planning to visit out in Uganda!
We had items for sale which proved to be a good buy - rosaries made by the children, and 2018 calendars featuring photos of the children, at work and play in Uganda. The evening raised a total of £1,025.40 in concert tickets, raffle tickets, and merchandise sold. The funds will go towards our school dormitories project at St Matia Mulumba School in Kyancoole, Masaka. There was also interest in sponsoring children, which, if followed through, will mean the amount raised will be even more!
Thank you to all who came, volunteers, organisers and performers who made the evening the fantastic event it was!
