A gift in a will helps us fund some of our most important projects which are vital for our children, such as the building of classrooms, dormitories and vocational training centres, the provision of equipment and the installation of water bore holes to provide clean water for our children. A gift can be made in memory of someone. You do need to seek guidance about leaving a gift in your Will.
Even very small sums of money can be of real value to our work in providing such things as a bed for a child, a suitcase for their belongings, a school uniform, sportswear, mattresses, blankets, bed sheets, towels and any of the personal items needed for daily living.
You can also choose how your gift is spent, but we would not advise this to be used for child sponsorship as a particular child may leave the area
and no longer participate in education. General purpose gifts are very helpful, as these allow us to use the money for current urgent needs and priorities. Your Will is a private document and you do not have to tell us that EVC is a beneficiary, unless you wish to do so. If however, you let us know that you are leaving a gift to us, we can plan ahead for the use of that money and, very importantly, thank you personally. There are also tax advantages if you leave a specific gift in your Will.
There are different types of Wills relevant to leaving a legacy to EVC:
Residual Will / Legacy – A % of the remainder of your estate after all items have been allocated.
Pecuniary Will / Legacy – Indicate the amount, a fixed sum of money to a person or persons.
Specific Item - A ring, property, car which could be sold to provide funds.
